In Hyrule, you play as Link. He’s the silent hero with the sword. He saves the princess. But in Ted Lasso? Everybody is Link. Or nobody is. Think about it.
Ted’s not Link. He’s the Master Sword itself. He’s the tool that empowers others. He doesn’t fight the dragon—he makes you believe you can fight the dragon. That’s a weird, beautiful twist.
And Rebecca Welton? Oh, she’s pure Zelda energy. The real Zelda. Not the damsel in a tower. She’s the one playing chess while everyone plays checkers. She even has her own “Triforce of Wisdom” moment in Season 2.
Quirky Faction: The Ghosts of Ganon
Rupert Mannion is Ganon. Plain and simple. He’s the big, boar-like villain who wants power and destroys everything lovely. He’s even got the smirk of a final boss.
Then there’s Jamie Tartt. He starts as a Dark Link. A corrupted mirror of talent. He’s flashy, arrogant, and needs a dungeon (the training ground) to find his true self. His redemption arc is basically a Zelda side-quest.
‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4, Episode 6 Release Time: Here’s When This Week’s
Roy Kent? He’s the Great Deku Tree. Gruff, ancient, and literally gives wisdom. He’s the one who tells you to “open the chest” when you’re stuck. And his swears? Those are just his Hylian battle cries.
