Pulling into the site, you’ll notice it’s basic. No fancy clubhouse, no swimming pool, no soft-play area for the kids. Instead, you get a gravel pitch, a sturdy hook-up point, and a view that makes you forget your phone exists. (Though you’ll still check it. We all do.)
The pitches are a mix of grass and hardstanding, so if you’re in a motorhome, you’re fine. But if you’re a caravan newbie like me, bring levelling ramps. The ground is bumpy—like a teenager’s skin after a bad pizza binge.
The Toilet Block Situation
Let’s talk facilities. The toilet block is clean, warm, and has those push-button showers that go cold after exactly 90 seconds. You’ll learn to shower like a Navy SEAL—fast and efficient. Pro tip: visit during off-peak hours, or you’ll be queuing with a grumpy retiree who’s memorised the schedule.
There’s also a small shop on site, but don’t expect gourmet anything. It’s the kind of place that sells overpriced eggs and a single sad-looking tomato. I bought a packet of shortbread there and a sense of mild regret.
