Let’s not forget Matt LaFleur’s offense. It’s a zone-running masterpiece. Jacobs’s vision is perfect for this system. He’s not just a bruiser; he’s got feet like a dancer. Scheme fit matters. Square peg, round hole? Not here. He’s the square peg that fits perfectly in the square hole. Don’t mess that up.
The Packers have a very young receiver room. Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs—they’re all figuring it out. Having a stable, bell-cow back who can block and catch? That makes Jordan Love’s job 10 times easier. You don’t toss that in the trash.
And the NFC North is a war zone now. The Lions are roaring. The Bears just got Caleb Williams. The Vikings are… existing. You need a runner who can grind out a 4-minute drive in December. Jacobs is that guy. He’s a wool coat in a windstorm.
Packers news: Josh Jacobs' practice return gets 'business as usual
My Best Guess (Without a Crystal Ball)
Okay, friend, here’s the tea: I think he stays. I really do. The Packers don’t have a better option in the draft this year (it’s a weak RB class). Free agency is slim pickings. And Jacobs’s market might be colder than he thinks—teams are still scared of paying running backs.
The most likely scenario? A 3-year deal with an out after Year 2. Guaranteed money around $20 million. It’s not a home run for either side, but it’s a solid double. Both parties get to save face and keep the band together.
But what if he walks? Oh man. Then we’re talking about a committee backfield with Dillon and a rookie. And I’ll be here, crying into my coffee, asking “What if?” That’s the nightmare scenario.
Final Sip
Look, I don’t have a direct line to Gutekunst’s phone. But my gut says Josh Jacobs is a Packer in 2026. The vibes are good. The money can work. And honestly, watching him stiff-arm a linebacker while snowflakes fall? That’s the kind of art you pay for.
So, let’s hope the front office feels the same way. Because if they let him go, I’m going to need a bigger cup of coffee to get over it. Cheers.
