Think about the locker room vending machine. Kaleb might have eaten the coach’s secret stash of gummy bears. That’s a one-way ticket to the bench.
Or he’s locked in a poker game with the punter. The loser has to sit out the first quarter. Kaleb bet on a pair of twos and lost miserably.
We have no proof of this. But it’s more fun than “coach’s decision,” right? The snack economy is a real thing in professional sports.
The Rookie Ritual
Remember how weird rookie hazing can be? Kaleb might be carrying the kicker’s pads to the bus and forgot. Now he’s in timeout.
Or he’s being punished for good behavior. That sounds backwards, but coaches are tricksters. They bench hot players to “humble them.”
Is it working? He sure looks humble sitting next to the water cooler. But we want to see him embarrass a linebacker.
The rookie ritual is a mysterious beast. It involves a lot of singing, a lot of dancing, and probably a bucket of ice.
