Vitamin deficiencies! Really. Low levels of B vitamins, iron, or zinc can cause cracked lips. It's rare, but it happens. Your lips are gossiping about your diet. Angled cracks in the corners of your mouth? That's angular cheilitis. Super fancy name, very annoying problem.
Also, lip licking can be a nervous habit. You might do it when you're bored or anxious. It becomes a loop: feel dry, lick, feel drier, lick more. You're trapped in a moisture-grabbing cycle.
And finally, sometimes your lips are just built different. Some people naturally have less oil production. Or you live in a dry climate. Or the universe just decided to test your patience with a perpetually flaky mouth.
