If you can’t decide, take a cruise. January is prime time for Western Caribbean itineraries (Cozumel, Belize, Honduras). You wake up in a new warm place every day, and someone else drives—you just eat, drink, and avoid norovirus.
Fun fact: Cruise ships employ more people per passenger than a small town. That means you can get a piña colada delivered to your deck chair by a guy named Marco who remembers your name. It’s creepy but delicious.
Just don’t book a cruise to Alaska in February. That’s how you become a human popsicle with a sea-view cabin.
One Last Thing: The Budget Option
Broken? Head to Arizona or Florida. The Sonoran Desert hits 70°F in February, and it’s beautiful in a “everything wants to stab you” kind of way. Cacti, red rocks, and dry heat—no humidity, but also no beaches.
Florida is basically the America’s waiting room for snowbirds. Key West stays around 75°F, and you can watch sunset with a margarita while a guy in a parrot hat plays Jimmy Buffett covers. It’s terrifyingly charming.
Or just stay home and crank the heat. But remember: you are the only one who can save your toes from frostbite. Go somewhere warm. Your future self (and your frozen car door) will thank you.
