Everyone thinks daddy longlegs are the most venomous spiders. It’s a lie. They have tiny mouths and can’t bite humans.
In autumn, you’ll see them gathered in huge groups. This is called a “daddy longlegs festival.” It looks creepy. It’s actually just a spider rave.
They’re not even true spiders. They’re harvestmen. They don’t spin webs. They just wander around looking confused. Relatable.
When Does It End?
By November, the male spiders have either found a mate or died. Cold weather kills them off. The females go back into hiding.
You’ll still see the odd straggler in December. But the big invasion is over. You can finally vacuum without fear.
Unless you live near a park. Then you might get an extra wave in early November. Blame the damp weather. Damp makes them frisky.
