What Was Said at the Bafta Awardsの注目ポイントを丁寧に掘り下げてご紹介します。

Let’s start with the emotional damage, shall we? Kate Winslet won Best Actress for Lee, and she immediately started sobbing like someone had just told her they canceled tea time. She clutched that trophy like it was a life raft, gasping, "This is not a film about a photographer... it’s about refusing to be silent." I felt that in my soul—right before I also felt the collective sniffle of every viewer at home.

Then came David Tennant, the host, who kept things running with the chaotic energy of a golden retriever on espresso. At one point, he literally held up a massive, floppy-eared dog puppet as a "plus-one" for a joke that nobody quite understood. It was absurd. It was perfect. The audience laughed like they were being paid by the chuckle.

The "Best Speech" Award Goes to... A Walrus?

Here’s a fact you didn’t expect: the most quoted line of the night didn’t come from a movie star. It came from a sound editor for The Zone of Interest. The film, about a family living next to Auschwitz, won Best Sound. The editor, Johnnie Burn, stood up and said, "We spent months recording the hum of an oven." He then casually added that the sound team also "watched a lot of YouTube videos of dogs barking." The room went silent, then erupted. Surprising fact: That film’s sound design is so disturbing, people reportedly walked out of cinemas because they couldn't handle the background noise. Imagine that—getting trauma-piped through a speaker system in Dolby Atmos.

Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. won for Oppenheimer and gave a speech that was suspiciously short on jokes. He just looked at the audience and deadpanned, "I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy." Then he bowed. I think he was being serious? I think? It was like watching a man who just finished a marathon and immediately sat down in a puddle.
