Last season, my cousin Mark showed up at my door at 12:47 PM, holding a bag of chips and a six-pack. “What time does the Lions play?” he asked, panting. I laughed. “Mark, it’s 1:00. You’re early!” He shrugged and said, “Better three minutes early than three minutes late to hope.” He wasn’t wrong.
That’s the spirit: showing up ready, even if it’s a tad too early. He spent those extra minutes rearranging my couch pillows while explaining a defensive formation. I didn’t understand a word, but I loved his energy. That’s what being a fan (or a fan-adjacent person) looks like.
So whether you’re a hardcore supporter or just there for the snacks, knowing the time is your first win of the day. You don’t need to shout at the TV or own a jersey — just show up when the whistle blows.
The Cheat Sheet for Today
Try this: when you wake up, whisper to yourself, “What time does the Lions play today?” Then check your phone. Write it on a sticky note. Tell a friend. Own that time like it’s your lucky coin. It’s a small act that adds order to the chaos of a Sunday.
And if you forget? No worries. There’s always next game. But why wait when you can catch today’s action? Grab your remote, your favorite hoodie, and a cold drink. The clock is ticking, and the Lions are waiting.
