Sometimes, the forecast says “Kp 6!” and you get clouds. Or you get clear skies but the aurora is a shy wallflower. That’s okay. It’s not you; it’s the solar wind. And solar wind is notoriously flaky.
If you miss it tonight, don’t cry. There’s always tomorrow night. Or next week. Or next solar cycle (which is 11 years long, but hey, no pressure).
What If You See It? (Cue Dramatic Music)
If the lights do show up, you’ll know. They’ll be green, pink, purple, or even red. They’ll wiggle like jellyfish on a caffeine high. And you’ll probably scream or cry or both. Accept it. It’s normal.
Take a photo with your phone in night mode, but mostly, just look up. Let your jaw drop. This is the universe’s way of saying, “Hey, I made you something beautiful.”
