Then there’s Donatello, or Donnie, the genius with the purple mask and the bo staff. He’s the guy who builds the gadgets, hacks the computers, and figures out the escape plan. Donnie is named after Donatello, a famous sculptor from Florence.
You know what Donatello the sculptor did? He created the first freestanding nude statue since ancient times—a bronze David. So when Donnie is tinkering with a high-tech turtle van, he’s basically doing the same thing but with circuit boards. Art and science, all wrapped up in a half-shell. Pretty cool, right?
