Don’t use dry cups for liquids. Ever. You’ll spill it, slosh it, and end up with milk in your measuring ring (which gets funky after a week). Use the glass liquid cup with the pour spout. It’s designed for that.
Also, don’t use dry cups for butter. Butter has its own weird measurements on the wrapper. Trust the wrapper. It’s a dairy hologram.
And please, for the love of all that is fluffy, don’t use them as a scoop for dog food. Unless you want Fido’s kibble dust in your brownies. You don’t.
A Final, Very Serious Note
Your dry measuring cups will get dinged up. That’s fine. A dent in the 1/4 cup just adds character. But if you lose the 1/3 cup? You’re in trouble. That’s the MVP of measuring cups.
You can fake a 1/4 cup (it’s half of a 1/2 cup). You can fake a 1/2 cup. But a 1/3 cup is mathematically awkward. Just buy a replacement set. Your future self—and your cookies—will thank you.
So, go forth and scoop. Level off. And remember: dry cups are for dry buddies. Flour, sugar, oats—they’re your friends. Milk is not. Now, go bake something that doesn’t require a chisel to eat.
