Graham Carr isn’t a household name like Sir Alex, but he’s a proper football man. He managed for over a decade, mostly in the lower leagues where the pies are heavy and the pressure is heavy too.
His biggest claim to fame? Taking Northampton Town to the old Fourth Division title in 1987. That’s a big deal for the Cobblers.
He also managed Canada. Yes, the Canada. He took charge of the national team in the early 2000s, facing off against giants like Mexico.
Imagine Alan’s stand-up material in the dressing room. “Right lads, we’re 2-0 down. Anybody want a gin and tonic?”
A Scout Superstar
But Graham’s true legacy isn’t just as a manager. He became a scouting legend for Newcastle United.
He worked under Mike Ashley, finding cheap gems from France. He brought in Yohan Cabaye, Mathieu Debuchy, and even a young Hatem Ben Arfa.
Yes, the man who discovered these silky French players is the same man who raised Alan Carr. The genetic lottery is wild.
