Historically, Virginia Tech has dominated this series. For about two decades, Frank Beamer’s Hokies just crushed the Hoos, year after year. It was like watching a bully take a lunch box every November.
But things have changed recently. Under Bronco Mendenhall and now Tony Elliott, UVA has become more competitive. They won in 2019 (the controversial one) and again in 2026. The gap is closing, and the games are getting tighter and tighter.
