- Jason O’Mara (Jim Shannon) said he did all his own stunts. Including getting chased by a fake dinosaur on a wire. It looked silly. He was committed.
- The dinosaur effects were a mix of CGI and practical puppets. One puppet cost as much as a small house. It still looked a little goofy. We loved it.
- Creator Kelly Marcel later wrote Fifty Shades of Grey. Yes, the same woman who wrote about time-traveling dinosaur families. She has range.
- Three episodes were never finished. The scripts exist. Somewhere in a drawer, there is a version of season two where the Allosaurus fights a robot. I am not joking.
Why You Should Watch It Right Now
Terra Nova season two is a beautiful, weird artifact. It is ambition without consequences. The show tried to do everything: action, family bonding, and philosophical questions about destiny. It didn’t all work. But it was never boring.
You can stream it now. It’s only 13 episodes. You can finish it in a weekend. And when you’re done, you’ll feel three things: joy for the fun, sadness it ended, and anger that we never got the third season promise of a war between humans and intelligent dinosaurs.
So grab a snack. Put on your pajamas. Dive into a world where the future is doomed, the past is dangerous, and a family with a moody teen is humanity’s only hope. It’s silly. It’s serious. It’s gloriously wild. Watch it. You’ll thank me later.
