Looking at these characters, it is easy to feel smug—"I would never trust a gangster or steal a marble from a grandpa!" But Squid Game holds a mirror to our everyday choices. We all play games: office politics, family obligations, the race for likes on Instagram.
The real twist? The game is rigged, but the players are not you and me. The doll always turns around. The honeycomb will always crack under pressure. Yet, like Gi-hun, we can choose how to move. Be less Sang-woo (cutthroat), more Ali (trusting but cautious), and a dash of Sae-byeok (resilient).
So next time you face a deadline or a tough conversation, remember: it is just a game. The only currency that matters is the one you cannot trade—your humanity. Play wisely, but play kind.
