Pulling up to the barrier is the first moment of pure, unadulterated joy. You don’t fumble for change or pray the card machine hasn’t eaten your contactless. It just works. It’s like the car park version of a handshake that’s firm and confident, not sweaty and awkward. You grab your ticket, and you’re in.
Driving through the levels is a strangely calming experience. The concrete is clean, the arrows are clear, and you don’t feel the primal fear of scraping your alloy on a pillar. It’s so well-organised, you almost feel like a professional driver, not just someone who eats crisps behind the wheel.
You find a spot, and it’s right where you want it. Not too far from the lift, not too close to a silly billy who might park on the line. It feels like the universe is finally giving you a break for that time you let someone merge in traffic.
The Lift Lobby: A Moment of Zen
Now, the lift lobby. This is where Q-Park First Street really shines. It’s not a grim concrete box with a suspicious smell. It’s bright, clean, and the lift actually arrives without you having to perform a summoning ritual. You press the button, and ding, it’s there like a well-trained butler.
Compared to other car parks where the lift smells like a wet dog and yesterday’s kebab, this is the Ritz. You can lean against the wall without worrying about what’s on it. Your phone has signal. You might even catch yourself humming a tune. It’s a genuinely pleasant interlude before the hustle of the city.
