It all starts with Del Boy, Rodney, and Grandad getting their hands on a massive, crystal chandelier. They think they’ve hit the big time, a quick sale for a small fortune. Of course, in Trotters’ world, “quick sale” means “potential disaster waiting to happen.”
They decide to install it in their flat for a client to view. That’s right – they’re going to hang a priceless chandelier from the ceiling of Nelson Mandela House, a tower block known for its delicate wiring and questionable plasterwork. What could possibly go wrong? Everything.
The Arrival: A Comedy of Errors
Just getting the thing into the flat is a workout in frustration. They struggle through the doorway, knocking over a lamp, a table, and probably a few of Del’s dreams of early retirement. You can almost hear the theme tune playing a sad, off-key version of “Stick That in Your Pipe.” It’s a beautiful, sweaty mess.
Rodney, bless his cotton socks, is already having a meltdown. He’s the voice of reason, the one who’s thinking, “This is a terrible idea.” But Del, with his golden tongue and unshakeable optimism, brushes him off. “It’s a piece of cake, Rodders,” he says. Famous last words.
Then comes the moment of truth. They’ve got the chandelier up, dangling precariously from a single, flimsy hook. Del is beaming, Rodney is sweating, and Grandad is… well, Grandad is probably making tea.
