The longest-serving female England captain taught us something beautiful: you don’t have to be loud to be a leader. You can be calm, steady, and unbreakable. You can be the person who holds the line—literally and figuratively—and still smile when the final whistle blows.
And here’s the uplifting part: her journey isn’t over. She’s now a role model for the next generation of Lionesses, like Beth Mead, Lucy Bronze, and the brilliant Leah Williamson. They’re all standing on the shoulders of a giant in a headband.
So next time you’re feeling a bit wobbly, ask yourself: What would Faye do? She’d probably fix her hair, take a deep breath, and tackle the problem—whether it’s a striker or a broken leg—with absolute class. And then she’d go have a cup of tea. That’s the secret, really.
Cheers, Faye. You made us proud, you made us laugh, and you showed us that the longest-serving captain isn’t the one with the most noise—it’s the one with the most heart. And yours? It’s still scoring goals, somewhere, even now.
