First, let’s talk about the question itself. It is a beautiful, quintessentially London question, isn’t it? It’s like asking if it’s going to rain—it’s part of our shared civic drama.
Whether the answer is “no” (hooray, your commute is safe!) or “yes” (panic mode engaged!), the question already does something magical: it makes you plan. And planning, my friend, is an adventure.
If the Answer is NO
Celebrate! High-five the stranger next to you. Go ahead, buy that extra croissant. Your normal route is a gift.
But don’t just scroll past this news. Take a moment to appreciate the glorious, mundane miracle of a train arriving on time. That’s the small joy you almost lost.
If the Answer is YES
Okay, deep breath. This is where the magic happens. You now have a golden excuse to break your routine. Walk to work? See what your neighborhood looks like above ground for a change!
I once had to walk from King’s Cross to Notting Hill during a strike. I found a tiny bookshop I still visit, discovered a perfect coffee spot, and got my steps in. It was annoying at first, then it became a memory.
