Here’s your mission, should you choose to accept it: Check the app or Google Maps for your local Greggs tomorrow morning. Don’t trust your memory—it’s Easter, your brain is full of chocolate.
If it’s open, go early. The best stuff sells out fast. You don’t want to be the person left with the last, sad-looking egg custard tart.
If it is closed, just accept your fate. Eat a carrot stick. Eat a chocolate egg. Wait until Monday, when Greggs will open its golden doors again, and you can purchase an entire tray of sausage rolls as penance.
A Final, Sweet Thought
Look, whether Greggs is open or not on Easter Sunday, remember the true meaning of the day: new beginnings. New beginnings for your stomach after a long winter of boring sandwiches.
And if you can’t get a Greggs treat, just know that somewhere, someone is eating one for you. They’re probably in a car park, holding a warm paper bag, looking at the sky, and whispering, “This is for you, friend.”
Happy Easter, you beautiful, hungry human. May your bank account be full of coins and your belly full of golden, flaky goodness. And if you do find an open Greggs, buy an extra pasty and think of me.
Now go forth, find that sausage roll, and let the joy (and the crumbs) fall where they may. You deserve it.
