Let’s be honest: the reason you’re asking this isn’t because you’re a gourmet chef. It’s because you’re slightly hungover, or you’ve just realised the kids have eaten everything, or you’ve run out of ice cream and the sun is shining. A bank holiday Monday is supposed to be a day of leisure. It is not supposed to be a day spent navigating a closed supermarket car park.
If Asda is open, you can salvage your day. You can buy the cheap gin and the value sausages. You can pretend you’re having a proper BBQ. If it’s closed, you have to face your own mortality and a fridge full of pickles. The choice, friends, is clear. Go to Asda. But check the hours first. Your bank holiday sanity depends on it.
And if all else fails, just buy the milk from the corner shop. Your wallet will cry, but your tea will be saved. Some things are worth the price of a small mortgage. A hot cup of tea on a bank holiday? Priceless.
