You know that universal law of DIY: you always need one more thing than you bought? Ibb Merchants has basically abolished that rule in South Manchester. I once went in for a single bag of plaster and left with the hardware, a joke about my wonky spirit level, and a free cup of tea from the kettle in the back office.
It’s the kind of place where the guy at the counter remembers your name after one visit. Not because he’s a stalker, but because you bought fifteen bags of MOT Type 1 for a driveway project that turned into a three-day existential crisis. He still calls you “Mr. Driveway,” and honestly, it’s a badge of honour.
Tools That Don't Judge You
Their tool section isn’t just for tradies; it’s for the rest of us who use a hammer like a blunt instrument. You’ll find everything from a humble trowel to a £500 laser level that looks like it belongs on a spaceship. I once bought a spirit level there, and the bloke insisted I check it against their granite slab just to be sure it was “true.” I have no idea if my walls are straight, but my spirit level lies perfectly.
And the prices? They don't have that smug “we-know-you’re-desperate” markup you get at the big box stores. A bag of sand here costs less than a latte, and it won’t make you jittery—just dusty and victorious.
