Most people grab a fistful of cilantro and chop it right at the soil line. That’s murder. You’ve just killed the whole plant. Would you chop off your own legs to grow taller? Exactly.
Instead, treat your cilantro like a shy friend at a party. You want to encourage it to mingle and grow new stems, not yank it out by the roots. Snip only the top third of each stem, leaving at least two inches of leaves and stem behind. This is the “cheerleader cut.”
Why does this work? Because the plant’s growth happens at the top nodes. When you cut the top, the plant panics and sends out two new shoots from the sides. One cut becomes two stems. It’s like magic, but with more guacamole potential.
