Genetic testing is a simple cheek swab. About 30-40% of the population carries the celiac genes, but only about 1-3% actually develop the disease. So a positive gene test doesn’t mean you have it—it just means your body has the potential to unlock the celiac achievement. Really useful for when you’re trying to decide if a gluten-free diet for a family member makes sense, or if you refused the gluten challenge and need some data. Still, it’s not a diagnosis on its own.
