Now, pour out the vinegar water down the sink. Do NOT drink it. Your insides are not a pickling jar. Rinse the whole pot and all parts thoroughly with fresh water. Then fill the pot with clean, fresh water only—no coffee, no basket, just H2O.
Let it percolate again for a full cycle. This is the “exorcism” step. The boiling water flushes out any leftover vinegar ghosts. Pour that water out, and rinse one more time. If you want to be extra fancy, do a second rinse cycle with baking soda—half a teaspoon in the water—to neutralize any remaining acidic tang.
