How to Clean a Sawyer Water Filter

How to Clean a Sawyer Water Filter

簡単にわかる! How to Clean a Sawyer Water Filterの対策を順番に解説します。

Here’s a weird fact: you can backflush while camping. Some people think you need a clean kitchen. Nope. Just find a stream, fill your syringe, and blast away. Mother Nature doesn’t care about spills.

Another fun truth: Sawyer filters are self-cleaning... if you do it right. The hollow fiber membranes inside are tougher than they look. You can’t break them by pushing too hard. A buddy of mine once used a bike pump on an old filter. It worked. I don’t recommend it, but it’s possible.

Step two: The vinegar bath for deep funk

Sometimes, backflushing isn’t enough. Maybe you left your filter in a hot car—bad idea. Or you filtered from a lake that smelled like old socks. You need a bleach-free soak.

Mix one part white vinegar with three parts water. Fill the syringe and flush it through the filter. Then let the filter sit in the vinegar solution for about 30 minutes. Longer if the funk is legendary. This kills mold and mineral deposits without wrecking the membranes.

After the soak, backflush five times with clean water. Taste the first few ounces that come out. If it smells like salad dressing, rinse more. You’re not making a vinaigrette. You’re drinking this stuff.
