After you've passed the physical fitness test, you'll be accepted into the New York City Correction Academy, where you'll receive comprehensive training in everything from law and procedure to defensive tactics. You'll learn from experienced instructors who will guide you every step of the way, and you'll have the chance to make new friends and colleagues who share your passion for corrections.
During your time at the academy, you'll also have the opportunity to learn about the history and mission of the DOC, as well as the values and principles that guide the department. You'll be inspired by the dedication and commitment of the officers who came before you, and you'll be motivated to make a positive impact on the lives of those in your care.
