Zac Efron was 19 years old during the filming of High School Musical 2. That’s right. He was already out of his actual teenage years by the time he was strutting around Lava Springs in that white polo shirt.
Think about that for a second. At 19, most of us are trying to figure out how to do laundry without shrinking everything. Zac Efron was singing about “betting on himself” and making every high schooler in America feel wildly insecure about their summer job.
But Wait, The Movie Says He’s a Senior?
Yes, and that’s the magic of Hollywood. In the world of East High, Troy is a 17 or 18-year-old senior. But in real life, Zac was already hitting the adult buffet of life. He could legally vote, buy a lottery ticket, and rent a car (though, let’s be real, he probably had a driver).
It’s funny to think about. Here he is, playing a guy who’s worried about his summer job at a country club, while in real life he was probably figuring out his taxes. Talk about method acting.
