Because age is a joke in the jungle. You don’t remember how old someone is; you remember them crying over a witchetty grub. Shona’s age is just a trivia fact to toss at the pub. It’s fun because it’s trivial. It’s a rabbit hole that leads nowhere but to a smile. And who doesn’t love a pointless fact?
Here is another quirky detail: Shona’s campmates constantly teased her about being the “baby” of the group. She was the youngest in her series. That gave her the privilege of doing the grossest trials. Age equals suffering in the jungle. The older you are, the more you boss people around. Shona was young, so she got to eat a fish eye. Lucky her!
So, how old is Shona from I’m a Celeb? The answer is: it depends on which one you mean. But if you’re talking about the beloved Shona McGarty, she’s forever 31 in our hearts. Or maybe 32 now. Or 30? Who cares? The jungle made her ageless. She’s a time traveler in a damp poncho.
Next time someone asks, just reply: “She’s old enough to eat a spider, young enough to cry about it.” That’s the real truth. Age is just a number—and in the jungle, that number is covered in mud and insect legs. So go ahead, ponder Shona’s age. It’s the best kind of nonsense: fun, pointless, and totally unforgettable. Now pass the mealworms.
