First, you need to understand what it takes to become a cabbie. It’s not just a job; it’s a life sentence of memorising 25,000 streets, 20,000 landmarks, and every shortcut that makes a sat nav weep with jealousy. This is “The Knowledge,” and it takes between two and four years to master. Imagine studying for the hardest geography exam on Earth while also learning to dodge kamikaze cyclists and tourists who step into traffic like they’re invincible.
They don’t call it a “brain transplant” for nothing. Cabbies literally grow a part of their hippocampus—the memory center of the brain—bigger than yours. It’s like they’re turning their heads into organic Google Maps, but with better jokes and a tendency to complain about the congestion charge.
