Think back to your last beach trip. Do you tan easily, turning a lovely golden brown? That’s a warm undertone—your skin loves the sun like a kid loves ice cream. Or do you burn first, turn pink, and then maybe—maybe—get a tan after three days of SPF 100?
Cool undertone people are natural lobsters. They burn like toast left too long in the oven. Warm undertones? They bronze like statues. Neutrals are the mystery: they burn slightly, then tan. It’s a whole drama.
The Lipstick Test (My Favorite)
This one is fun—and potentially hilarious. Go to a drugstore (or your own stash) and grab a true red lipstick. Hold it up to your face, no application needed.
Does a blue-based red (think cherry) make you look alive? Cool undertone. Does an orange-based red (like a tomato) make you glow? Warm undertone. If both look okay, but neither is life-changing? Neutral—and you get to wear all the reds, you lucky thing.
