“Thy kingdom come” is “venga a nosotros tu reino.” Literally: “Come to us your kingdom.”
Then, the bread part: “El pan nuestro de cada día, dánoslo hoy.” Say that five times fast. It’s a tongue twister!
Fun fact: “El pan” (bread) is masculine in Spanish. So, bread has a gender. And you’re asking for it today, not tomorrow. God runs on a tight schedule.
The Forgiveness Tango
Now for the juicy part. “Forgive us our trespasses” is “perdona nuestras ofensas.” That’s right – offenses, not debts.
But wait! “As we forgive those who trespass against us” goes: “como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden.” It’s a conditional deal.
If you don’t forgive your brother for stealing your last taco, you’re breaking the whole prayer. Oof. Pressure’s on.
