Before you go full warrior mode, take a breath. Not every little fly is a gnat. Most of the time, you’re actually battling fruit flies (those dumpy little guys that love rotting peaches) or fungus gnats (the slender, long-legged ones that live in your houseplant soil). The fix is different for each, so peep the culprit. If they’re hovering near your trash can or that one sad tomato you forgot about, you’ve got fruit flies. If they’re crawling out of your fiddle leaf fig, you’ve got fungus gnats. See? You’re already winning.
