Hour one? You’re a champion. You’ve got your neck pillow, your noise-canceling headphones, and a playlist of epic podcasts. You feel invincible.
By hour ten, you’ve watched three movies, eaten two meals you wouldn’t normally touch, and started having deep philosophical conversations with the aisle. Your feet are now strangers to you. This is the survival zone.
At hour eighteen, you are a creature of pure instinct. You will trade your dignity for a pair of compression socks. You’ll make friends with the flight attendant just for an extra ginger ale. It’s beautiful chaos.

How to Make It Less Awful (Fun, Even)
First, embrace the layover. Don’t see Dubai, Doha, or Singapore as a punishment. See it as a mini-holiday in the middle of your trip. Walk around. Eat something weird. Buy an overpriced perfume you’ll never wear. It resets your brain.
Second, dress like you’re going to a slumber party, not a business meeting. Soft joggers, a hoodie that smells like home, and shoes you can kick off instantly. Your future self will thank you.
Third, bring a secret weapon. For me, it’s a tiny notebook and a pen. I write down weird observations. “The man in 34B looks like a depressed meerkat.” “Why does airplane coffee taste like ambition?” It fills the hours with silly joy.
