So, do you get free glasses on Universal Credit? Yes, with a side of bureaucracy. You get a free eye test and a voucher that can cover the whole cost of basic specs. But you’ll need to navigate the weird world of NHS frames, awkward conversations with opticians, and the deep shame of choosing plastic over titanium.
My advice? Embrace the ugly frames. No one in the street cares if your glasses are sleek, but everyone notices when you say, “Is that a dog or a mailbox?” Go get your free test, grab your voucher, and see the world clearly again. Then invest in a sturdy case—because the universe will test your new vision by hiding your glasses right where you left them.
