The pitches are what you’d expect from a Club site: neat, tidy, and with enough space that you’re not elbows-deep in your neighbour’s BBQ. They’re mostly hardstanding, which is a lifesaver if you’ve ever tried to level a caravan in muddy grass (I have; it’s not fun).
There’s a mix of grass pitches too for the purists, but honestly? Go for the hardstanding. Your back will thank you, and you won’t spend your first evening digging yourself out. Trust me on this one. Every pitch has electric hook-up, and the water points are scattered around so you’re never doing the awkward “carry two heavy jerry cans” shuffle for too long.
The Facilities: Clean Enough to Eat Your Dinner Off the Floor
The shower blocks are where Club sites really show their stripes, and Carnon Downs passes with flying colours. The showers are hot, powerful, and have those little hooks for your towel so it doesn’t end up in a puddle. There’s also a laundry room, a dishwashing area with actual hot water (a luxury you don’t appreciate until you’ve washed dishes in freezing cold water on a windy day).

And the washing-up room is a strangely social spot. I’ve had more conversations about the best pasty shop in Cornwall while scrubbing a frying pan than I have in any pub. It’s weirdly wonderful. There’s also a small shop on-site for essentials—milk, bacon, and of course, a selection of local ciders. You know, the important stuff.
