Bed bugs are not into fashion—they don’t care if you’re rocking designer jeans or sweatpants. What they do love is dark, warm places where they can hide. Think of your clothes as a comfy Uber—they just want a ride to their next meal (you).
If you toss your dirty clothes on the floor or leave them in a pile near your bed, you’re basically handing them a free ticket to your closet. They’ll crawl into folds, pockets, and seams like little ninjas in the night. But here’s the good news: they’re not built for long-term travel in fabrics.
How Long Do They Actually Stick Around?
In clean, dry clothes, a bed bug might survive for a few days to a week—if they have no access to food (your blood). That’s like me trying to survive on a bag of pretzels at a four-day conference. Eventually, they get hangry and wander off.
But if you’re wearing those clothes? That’s a different story. While you’re walking around, they can crawl onto you and start feasting, but they’re not likely to stay in your shirt for hours. They prefer to bite, boogie, and then hide somewhere nearby—like your bed frame or headboard.
