So, for tonight: Check the KP index (3 or higher is good, 5 is party time). Check the clouds. Check the moon. Then, put on your warmest socks—even the ones with holes, just wear two pairs—and go outside.
Don’t stand in your backyard if you live near a town. Drive ten minutes to a dark spot. Park facing north. Turn off your headlights. And then, just look up. You’ll either see a cosmic masterpiece, or you’ll see stars and a cold nose. Either way, you have a story to tell.
And if you do see it? Tell the person next to you “wow” in a whisper, like you’re in a library. It feels right. Then post a blurry picture and pretend you’re a professional photographer. I won’t tell anyone.
