The cathedral’s bell tower holds 12 bells, each named after a saint. They ring so loudly that on Sunday mornings, you can hear them in the next county. One visitor once complained that the bells sounded like “a bag of angry cats.” I think that’s unfair to cats.

A few years ago, a seagull got trapped inside the tower. It spent three days flying around, pooping on the bells, and screeching like a banshee. The custodian finally coaxed it out with a stale biscuit. That bird now has a legendary status among the clergy.
Modern Miracles and Free Tea
Today, the cathedral is a hub of community life. They host yoga classes, concerts, and even a weekly café serving cheap tea and biscuits. I once saw a nun there arguing with a barista about the correct temperature of Earl Grey. It was the most British miracle I’ve ever witnessed.
If you visit, don’t miss the stained glass windows depicting scenes from the Bible. One window shows Jesus walking on water, but the artist clearly had a sense of humor—in the background, there’s a tiny, drowning fish. Priorities, eh?
